The average number of daily COVID-19 cases in Ohio is declining, but the state is still far away from getting out of the pandemic.
The 21-day daily average case number Tuesday was 6,094, according to the Ohio Department of Health. That's down from 6,617 just a week ago.
Ohio hasn't exceeded 6,617 cases in a day since Sept. 28 with 7,283.
But it's still considerably higher than the average of about 260 cases per day in mid-July.
Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff, ODH director, said Monday that cases were slowly declining across the state and country.
The 6,234 COVID-19 cases Tuesday is down from the daily average of 6,094 for the past 21 days, according to the ODH.
Tuesday's total includes 308 cases in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties combined.
The state had a total of 1,439,490 COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday with 1,301,445 presumed recovered and 22,490 deaths.
The ODH usually provides death information on Tuesdays and Fridays.
There were 217 COVID-19 deaths since Friday including six in Trumbull, four in Mahoning and five in Columbiana counties.
Mahoning County had 28,722 total COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday with 25,486 presumed recovered and 658 deaths.
Trumbull County had 21,310 total COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday
with 18,858 presumed
recovered and 534
deaths.
Columbiana County had 12,722 total COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday with 11,051 presumed recovered and 249 deaths.
VACCINATIONS
There were 6,331,510 people, 54.16 percent of the state's population, who had at least started getting inoculated as of 6 a.m. Tuesday, including 3,127 in the previous 24 hours, according to the ODH.
In Mahoning County, 52.21 percent of the population (119,388 people) had received at least one dose with 50 percent of the population in Trumbull County (98,994 people) and 42.59 percent in Columbiana County (43,388 people) as of 6 a.m. Tuesday, according to the ODH.
There were 5,889,372 people, 50.38 percent of the state's population,who finished the vaccinations as of 6 a.m. Tuesday, including 5,486in the prior 24 hours.
In Mahoning County, 48.64 percent of the population (111,265 people) had completed the process and 46.25 percent of the population in Trumbull (91,589 people) and 39.78 percent of the population in Columbiana (40,537 people) had as of 6 a.m. Tuesday.
The Warren City Health District will have a Pfizer booster clinic 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at its office at 258 E. Market St. Other booster clinics will be 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 12, 22 and 26.
