The Ohio Department of Health on Saturday reported 6,369 new COVID-19 cases and 159 new hospitalizations.
As of Saturday, 1,247,637 cases have been reported since the start of the pandemic, leading to 66,628 hospitalizations.
Officials reported 6,115,303 Ohioans, or 52.32 percent of the state's population, have started the vaccination process, an increase of 11,935 from the previous day.
The Department of Health reported 81 deaths Friday, bringing the total to 20,947. The state is updating the number only after death certificates have been processed, usually on Tuesdays and Fridays.
During a news conference last week, Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff called it "troubling" that Ohio is in worse shape than before vaccines were available. He said COVID-19 patients make up 1 in 8 people in Ohio hospitals and 1 in 5 patients in intensive care units.
Mahoning County has 24,688 cases and 625 deaths with a 50.59 percent vaccination rate.
Trumbull County has 18,247 cases and 497 deaths with a 48.36 percent vaccination rate.
Columbiana County has 10,335 cases and 236 deaths with a 41.03 percent vaccination rate.
