The state is on pace to end August with the most COVID-19 cases since February.
Through the first 16 days of August, there have been 32,296 COVID-19 cases reported.
That's already more cases than the entire months of June and July combined. There were 9,390 cases in June and 17,953 in July.
It's also already surpassed May, which had 29,622 cases.
The daily average for the first 16 days of August is 2,018.5. That would work out to be more than 62,573 COVID-19 cases for August.
It would be the most for a month since 71,630 were reported in February.
It would also be the fifth most for a month since the start of the pandemic in early March 2020.
The most for a month was 279,317 last December.
Monday was the 14th consecutive day in which Ohio exceeded 1,000 daily COVID-19 cases. That includes seven that had more than 2,000 cases with two of them exceeding 3,000 reported cases.
The delta variant among the unvaccinated, which spreads quickly, is almost entirely to blame for the increase, local and state health officials say.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention list 82 Ohio counties, including Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana, as high COVID-19 transmission areas and the state's other six counties as substantial transmission counties.
High transmission counties have at least 100 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people for the period between Aug. 8 and Sunday.
Mahoning had 121.57 cases per 100,000 residents while Trumbull had 115.67 cases per 100,000 and Columbiana had 149.19, according to the CDC.

The 1,814 new COVID-19 cases reported Monday are down from the daily average of 1,854 for the past 21 days, according to the Ohio Department of Health.
Throughout the pandemic, the number of cases on Sundays and Mondays are typically the lowest because of a lag in reporting over the weekend.
Ohio was averaging about 260 cases a day about five weeks ago.
The state had a total of 1,161,573 COVID-19 cases as of Monday with 1,102,069 presumed recovered.
The ODH usually provides death information on Tuesdays and Fridays. There were 20,614 total COVID-19 deaths as of Friday.
Mahoning County had 23,322 total COVID-19 cases as of Monday with 22,074 presumed recovered and 615 deaths.
Trumbull County had 17,348 total COVID-19 cases as of Monday with 16,273 presumed recovered and 493 deaths.
Columbiana County had 9,535 total COVID-19 cases as of Monday with 8,986 presumed recovered and 236 deaths.
VACCINATIONS
There were 5,924,412 people, 50.68 percent of the state's population, who had at least started getting inoculated as of 6 a.m. Monday, including 4,744 in the previous 24 hours, according to the ODH. It's 59.24 percent of the population of at least those 12 years old, the earliest age a person can get the vaccine, the department reported.
In Mahoning County, 49.09 percent of the population (112,269 people) had received at least one dose with 46.94 percent of the population in Trumbull County (92,928 people) and 39.64 percent in Columbiana County (40,389 people) as of 6 a.m. Monday, according to the ODH.
There were 5,482,733 people, 46.9 percent of the state's population, who finished the vaccinations as of 6 a.m. Monday, including 4,101 in the prior 24 hours. It's 54.82 percent of the population of at least those 12 years old.
In Mahoning County, 45.35percent of the population (103,702 people) had completed the process and 43.03 percent of the population in Trumbull (85,191 people) and 36.75 percent of the population in Columbiana (37,447 people) had as of 6 a.m. Monday.
The Trumbull County Combined Health District has COVID-19 vaccination clinics at the former Lane Bryant space at the Eastwood Mall in Niles 5 to 7 p.m. today and Thursday and from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. Those who get a first dose will receive $100 Eastwood Mall gift cards.
