COVID-19 cases are above 3,000 once more statewide.
The Ohio Department of Health reported 3,091 new cases Monday, bringing the total up to 1,214,986. Since last week, the ODH has reported a staggering 31,225-case jump in seven days. Also since last week, death totals increased by 110, making the new total 20,799.
The ODH usually reports new death totals on Tuesdays and Fridays.
In the Mahoning Valley, 148 new cases were reported in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, bringing the totals to 24,237, 17,934 and 10,076, respectively.
In Mahoning County, the new total is a 527-case increase since last week. The death total sits at 618. Since last week, only one new death was added.
In Trumbull County, 342 cases have been added since last week. Two deaths have been added since then, making the new total 496.
In Columbiana County, 269 cases have been added since last week, and no new deaths were reported in that time.
VACCINATIONS
Across the state, the ODH reported 51.84 percent of Ohioans, or 6,059,839 people, have received the COVID-19 vaccine. The new total is an increase of 4,383 people getting the shots. According to the ODH, Ohioans between the ages of 50 to 59 have received the most vaccinations, with 1,011,704 getting inoculated.
Locally, 50.23 percent of residents in Mahoning County have gotten at least one dose of the vaccine -- equating to 114,864 residents. The total is an increase of 96 new vaccinations started over Sunday.
In Trumbull County, 48 percent of its residents have received at least one dose. The total of those who have gotten at least one shot is 95,029. The total is an increase of 50 newly vaccinated residents in the county.
In Columbiana County, 40.68 percent of its residents have received at least one dose. The total number of vaccinations given to residents is 41,450 -- an increase of 58 in the last 24 hours.
