The Ohio Department of Health reported 231 new COVID-19 cases in the state Sunday, bringing the total to 1,114,267 since the pandemic began.
As of Sunday, 60,924 people were hospitalized, an increase of 10, and Ohio had 8,357 intensive-care unit admissions, an increase of two.
The number of Ohioans who have begun the vaccination process increased over a 24-hour period by 3,573, bringing the total to 5,626,500, or 48.13 percent of the population. That percentage is 46.78 in Mahoning County, 44.47 in Trumbull County and 37.64 in Columbiana County.
The number of Ohioans who completed the vaccination process rose by 5,260 on Sunday, bringing the total number of completely vaccinated Ohioans to 5,267,664, or 45.06 percent of the population. That percentage is 43.38 in Mahoning County, 40.88 in Trumbull and 35.52 in Columbiana.
ODH reported 14 deaths Friday, bringing the total to 20,380. The state is updating the total number of deaths only after death certificates have been processed, usually twice per week.
Trumbull County had an increase of three new cases for a total of 16,623. Mahoning was at 22,466 cases Sunday, an increase of five from the day before.
In Columbiana County, two new cases of the virus were reported, bringing the total to 9,060.
Deaths were updated on Friday and remain at 486 for Trumbull County, 611 for Mahoning County and 235 in Columbiana County. The state has reported 20,380 deaths since the pandemic began.
Mahoning County ranks 11th among the state's 88 counties for the number of cases. Trumbull County is 17th, and Columbiana is 27th.
Franklin County is first in the state for the number of cases at 129,439, followed closely by Cuyahoga County with 116,308. Only two Ohio counties had case numbers over 100,000. Vinton County has the fewest number of total cases with 865. It is the only county that has not reached 1,000, according to the ODH.
