After a four-day decline in reported COVID-19 cases, Ohio not only saw an increase Tuesday, but again exceeded 300 for the day.
The state reported 344 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, according to the Ohio Department of Health. It was an increase compared to 224 cases reported Monday and stopped a trend of four straight days with declining numbers.
It also was the first time since Friday the state posted more than 300 cases for a day.
The 344 new cases reported Tuesday is up from the daily average of 260 for the past 21 days, according to the ODH.
The state had a total of 1,114,835 COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday with 1,087,296 presumed recovered and 20,411 deaths.
The ODH usually provides death information on Tuesdays and Fridays.
There were 31 additional COVID-19 deaths reported since Friday, including one each in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.
Mahoning County had 22,470 total COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday with 21,730 presumed recovered and 612 deaths, according to the ODH.
Trumbull County had 16,629 total COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday with 16,019 presumed recovered and 487 deaths.
Columbiana County had 9,066 total COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday with 8,807 presumed recovered and 236 deaths.
VACCINATIONS
There were 5,635,050 people, 48.21 percent of the state's population, who at least had started getting inoculated as of 6 a.m. Tuesday, including 6,168 in the previous 24 hours, according to the ODH.
In Mahoning County, 46.83 percent of the population (107,102 people) had received at least one dose, while 44.53 percent of the population in Trumbull County (88,151 people) and 37.67 percent in Columbiana County (38,383 people) had as of 6 a.m. Tuesday, according to the ODH.
There were 5,277,152 people, 45.15 percent of the state's population, who finished the vaccinations as of 6 a.m. Tuesday, including 5,882 in the prior 24 hours.
In Mahoning County, 43.44 percent of the population (99,344 people) had completed the process, while 40.95 percent of the population in Trumbull (81,066 people) and 35.58 percent of the population in Columbiana (36,248 people) had as of 6 a.m. Tuesday.
