Autopsies reveal two homicides Sunday
WARREN — The Trumbull County coroner has positively identified the two victims of homicides in Trumbull County this week.
An autopsy was performed on the 89-year-old woman, whom Coroner Dr. Lawrence D’Amico positively identitied as Gloria Dean Ruth Lewis. “Mama” Lewis, 89, died of a single gunshot wound to the back as she sat in her wheelchair Sunday in the living room of 3178 Starlite Drive. It appears the family matriarch was shot through the window when someone fired at the house, but it is unclear why the shots were fired as police have not released further details.
After another autopsy, Dr. D’Amico ruled homicide in the Sunday shooting death of Thomas Carr on First Street in Niles. Carr, 39, died of multiple gunshot wounds and a 19-year-old man went into surgery after being shot after a confrontation at a home in the 100 block, reports show.
