WHAT: Township trustees meeting Wednesday
PRESENT: Rick Clark, Jim LaPolla and Matt Vansuch
Trustees:
• Approved applying for a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant for equipment to replace the self-contained breathing apparatus filling station and associated equipment and for a vehicle grant to replace an aged ambulance and associated equipment. Fire Chief James Pantalone said it is difficult to find parts for the aged equipment and vehicle;
• Renewed the agreement between Medicounts Management Inc. for third-party emergency services billing at a base rate fee equal to 7.25 percent of the gross amount collected;
• Approved refinancing the fire department's aerial ladder truck with Huntington Public Capitol Corp;
• Hired Justine Bartko as a part-time farmers market manager at $12 per hour effective Feb. 11 with no benefits and scheduled on an as-needed basis;
• Approved the scrap-tire grant program with officials in 2020 collecting 950 tires and some years more than 1,500 of them;
• Adopted the county's multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan in the event of any type of disaster that would affect the township;
• Appointed Township Administrator Darlene St. George to the planning commission's tax incentive review council, which meets 10 a.m. March 19; Vansuch to the county emergency management agency meeting 5 p.m. Feb. 17; and LaPolla to the county health board meeting 7 p.m. March 11;
• Approved $6,064 for the Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District that provides consulting and other services for the township;
• Heard from Vansuch of having signs posted in the township to recognize the school's state champion soccer team;
• Approved a three-year agreement with Julian and Grube to assist the township in preparing cash-basis financial notes at $600;
• Approved the sale of a 2008 Ford Explorer police vehicle on govdeals.com;
• Scheduled a special meeting 6 p.m. Feb. 24 virtually at the township webpage for budget hearing and additional financial transactions.
