WARREN -- A scared 7-year-old girl told police officers she jumped out of a vehicle her mom was driving before it crashed Saturday morning in the 3800 block of Youngstown Road SE.

The girl, according to the report, said she was scared. She landed on her feet and was not injured.

The mother, Monique Swonger, 29, of Ferncliff Avenue NW, is charged with OVI, failure to control and child endangering, the report states.

According to the Warren Municipal Court website, not guilty pleas for the three charges were entered on Swonger's behalf during Tuesday's arraignment before Judge Terry Ivanchak. Swonger was ordered held without bond and will appear for a preliminary hearing at 10:15 a.m. Feb. 26.

Trumbull County jail records show Swonger was booked into the facility at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday.

A caller told Trumbull County 911 about the 11:45 a.m. Saturday accident, saying the driver of a 2007 Jeep was "nodding off" before the crash. When officers arrived, they observed the driver's eyes were glossy and pinpoint, and her speech was slurred. Officers also reported Swonger also was nodding off as she was talking to them, the report states.

When EMTs arrived to check the woman, she admitted to taking methodone, the report said. Officers also discovered a bottle of fake urine in a cupholder in the vehicle.

The woman refused to take sobriety or blood tests and asked to see a lawyer, the report states.

The girl and Swonger were taken to St. Joseph Warren Hospital for treatment, the report states.
