WARREN -- Jacqueline Shannon, a certified cancer registrar with the Cleveland Clinic, has been selected to replace longtime Warren board of education member Robert "Bob" Faulkner, who resigned last month.
Shannon was among six who applied to fill the unexpired term.
"I am honored to begin my collaboration with this awesome team," Shannon said Tuesday after being sworn in by Trumbull Probate Judge James Fredericka.
Shannon is a longtime advocate of Warren City Schools. She and her late husband, Patrick, a Warren graduate, raised their children in Warren. Both were very active in the school community.
"Jackie's career leadership roles, her volunteerism in the Warren community, her enthusiasm and testimony to the strength of the Warren City Schools' academic programs and extracurricular offerings, in addition to the depth of her volunteer work within the district, made her the perfect candidate to fill the board seat," said board President Patti Limperos.
Shannon served on the bond levy committee, campaigning for construction of the new schools here, and has dedicated much time to several district parent organizations.
She is a past PTO president, served on a committee for the district's PK-8 buildings, and was an officer on the Warren G. Harding High School Band Boosters. She also serves as treasurer of the Ohio Cancer Registrar Association.
Others who applied for the appointment were Alisha Alls, owner of Greentree Counseling Center; Jenna Daugherty, an ESL teacher and tutor; Lea Dotson, an education policy analyst with Alliance for Climate Education; Todd Johnson, pastor of Warren's Second Baptist Church; and Jaime Shuster, a teacher, editor and research consultant at Kent State and Cleveland State universities and at Hiram College.
Also Tuesday, Limperos was re-elected as school board president and Regina Patterson was elected board vice president.
The board will continue to meet virtually via Zoom.
