Marshals looking for suspect wanted on a secret indictment

WARREN -- Local authorities are looking for a Warren man wanted on a secret indictment in connection to the Aug. 2, 2020, fatal shooting of a 24-year-old man who was driving a car on Summit Street NW.

Cameron Tillis, 35, of Palmyra Road SW, is currently at large, according to Trumbull County Assistant Prosecutor Christopher Becker. Tillis is being sought by the Youngstown office of the U.S. Marshals Service office.

A secret indictment was unsealed Thursday in Common Pleas Court charging Tillis with aggravated murder, which carries a gun specification, tampering with evidence and having a firearm under restrictions.

Tillis is the second man charged in the shooting death of Delquan Ware, 2951 Linda Drive NW, who was pronounced dead at Trumbull Regional Medical Center shortly after the shooting that happened about 11 a.m. on Summit Street NW near Tod Avenue NW.

The slaying was the 13th homicide in Warren for 2020.

Stefon Q. Alexander, 35, of Woodland Street NE, late last month pleaded not guilty to an aggravated murder charge, which also carries a gun specification. Alexander is in custody pending the posting of a $1 million bond.

Alexander also faces a third-degree tampering with evidence charge.

Both men would face maximum life without parole prison sentences.

A Trumbull County 911 report stated four shots were fired that Sunday morning from what possibly was a white Chevrolet Suburban that struck another vehicle and continued north on Tod Avenue NW.

A woman in the hit vehicle reported to 911 that she had a bump on her head and said three cars wrecked as a result of the shooting. The third vehicle, a gold Saturn, ended up partially on a curb at Tod and Summit, a police report states.

Officers found Ware in the driver's seat of a silver Chevrolet Malibu that had crashed in front of the home. He was covered in blood from the arms up, the report states, with the officer finding what appeared to be a bullet hole in the driver's side window.

After he was taken away by ambulance, police blocked off Summit Street and secured the crime scene. Officers spoke to people in nearby homes and a bar.

The case against Tillis has been assigned to Common Pleas Judge Ronald J. Rice. Meanwhile, Alexander is scheduled to appear at a pretrial hearing Feb. 10 in Judge W. Wyatt McKay's court.
