Hartford man dies while trimming tree

HARTFORD — A man died after a large branch fell on him Sunday during a tree-trimming job at his state Route 7 home.

Armando I. Acevedo, 36, was pronounced dead shortly after 3 p.m. by emergency responders from Brookfield Fire Department, according to a report from the Trumbull County Sheriff’s office.

Trumbull County 911 received a call at 2:35 p.m. of a traumatic injury at 2061 state Route 7. Dispatchers advised first responders a man was in a tree cutting it down when a large limb struck him, making him unresponsive.

Acevedo’s wife told deputies he was cutting a limb down in their back yard and it broke, striking him in the back, right shoulder and head. At the time, Acevedo was stuck between his ladder and the tree limb about 20-feet off the ground. The woman said she called 911 after her husband became unresponsive.

An autopsy of Acevedo is expected to be completed either today or Wednesday, according to Kathy Meszaros, chief investigator for Trumbull County Coroner Dr. Thomas James.
