Free COVID-19 testing available in Warren

By Staff report 2 min read

WARREN -- Area residents wanting to know if they have been exposed to COVID-19 will have multiple opportunities to get tested at no cost over the next 10 days.

Trumbull Community Action Program will have drive-up testing 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday in the former Kmart Plaza, 2485 Parkman Road NW.

Nasal swab testing will be administered by the Ohio National Guard on a first-come, first-served basis. No doctor's appointment is needed. There will be no out-of-pocket expenses for those tested.

TCAP officials are working with the city of Warren, the Ohio National Guard and the Trumbull County Combined Health District.

Testing also will be done 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 18, 19 and 20, at W.D. Parkard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave. NW.

The Warren City Health District has hired Mobile Labs Express to do the testing. The health district is paying for the testing using a $200,000 grant it received from Trumbull County.

"We wanted to make testing available over a weekend, so people who cannot take advantage of testing during work days will have an opportunity to be tested," said John May, deputy director of the city's health department.

People wanting to be tested should bring a photo ID and a health insurance card, if they have insurance. Testing will be done even if someone does not have insurance.

Registration is required. Those interested in getting tested should text: 407-300-7684 to register. Masks are required. People that are tested should receive their results within five days of the test, according to May.

This is the second time Warren has sponsored free testing at Packard Music Hall. The city sponsored free testing for the virus in late April.
