WARREN -- A Warren man received a two-year prison sentence Wednesday on felony convictions connected to a May crime spree that included a theft at Sam's Club and a robbery at an Elm Road clothing store.
Kasmond P. Parker, 33, 692 Oak St. SW, Warren, pleaded guilty to charges of robbery, receiving stolen property, possession of cocaine and theft.
According to prosecutors, the drug charge was linked to a May 8 traffic stop at Highland Avenue and Oak Street where Parker was found with .11 grams of cocaine.
Just 10 days later, prosecutors said Parker was one of two people involved in a theft of more than $1,000 of merchandise from Sam's Club on state Route 46.
According to the police report, Parker was driving a tan Chevrolet Silverado when the other man walked out of the store with a television and four vacuum cleaners. The report states the other man was loading the merchandise into the pickup truck and laughing at store employees. The employees took a picture of the pickup truck and the license plate came back stolen.
Two days later, police stopped that same pickup truck with the same stolen license plates on it, prosecutors said.
On May 30, police reports state that Parker was wearing a camouflaged vest when he and the other man entered the Citi Trends store on Elm Road and both left carrying armfuls of clothing without paying for them. As an employee of Citi Trends tried to stop the two men from fleeing, Parker exited the side door of the vehicle, grabbing the woman's arm, pulled and shoved her away from the vehicle so he could flee around the back of the store.
Parker's co-defendant, Jacob Hawkins, 24, 692 Oak St. SW, Warren, did not appear for an arraignment Oct. 5 before Judge Peter J. Kontos, who issued a warrant for his arrest, court records show.
