Southington resident pleads in sex case

WARREN — A Southington man, a legal immigrant with a green card, on Wednesday was convicted of five felony charges connected to inappropriate texts sent to an undercover police officer — including nude photos.

Matthew J. Bradley, 40, of 2531 state Route 534, pleaded guilty before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Wyatt McKay to charges of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, importuning, unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, possessing criminal tools and pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor.

Bradley has been free after posting $5,000 bond last December, jail and court records show.

McKay will sentence Bradley after the adult probation department conducts a background investigation.

The case was investigated by the Newton Falls Police Department, according to Gabriel Wildman, Trumbull County assistant prosecutor. Wildman said the man was accused of trying to contact a girl he believed was a 14-year-old, but actually was an undercover police officer. Wildman said the man sent nude photos of himself via cellphone.

Because the defendant said he was a legal immigrant who possesses a green card, McKay said Bradley may face additional sanctions from the federal government, which could include possible deportation. According to Wildman, Bradley hails from Great Britain.
