1 min read

JOHNSTON -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol Monday is investigating a one-car crash in northern Trumbull County that killed a Youngstown man.

According to a news release from the Warren patrol post, Demetrius Nored, 28, was driving northbound about 4:30 a.m. on Ridge Road near state Route 88 in a 2016 Dodge Challenger, when his vehicle went off the right side of the road striking a tree and a utility pole. Nored was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

The car was split in half and the accident caused a brush fire that was extinguished by the Johnston Township Fire Department, the report states.

Trumbull County Sheriff deputies assisted at the scene as Ridge Road was closed in both directions, while the accident scene was being cleared. Ohio Edison crews were notified about the split utility pole.

The road was reopened to traffic later Monday morning, the report states.

Patrol reports said the Dodge Challenger was earlier clocked by troopers going more than 100 mph on state Route 11 northbound.

According to a patrol officer, troopers lost sight of the car in the chase and the Dodge reportedly exited Route 11 on state Route 5 north of Cortland and turned northbound on Ridge Road.
