Names of Howland crash victims released
HOWLAND — A late Saturday evening two-vehicle crash in Howland sent two people on a motorcycle to the hospital with serious injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol Warren Post is investigating the crash that happened at 9:20 p.m. on state Route 82 at Warren Sharon Road in Howland.
Reports indicate Neale Huston, 41, of Girard, was traveling east on state Route 82 in the left turn lane at Warren Sharon Road, on a black 2011 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Jose A. Croal, 67, of Warren, was traveling west on the state Route 82 westbound exit ramp to Warren Sharon Road in the left lane, in a gray 2019 Chevrolet Suburban.
Reports indicate Huston turned left across the Route 82 westbound exit ramp lanes to Warren Sharon Road into the path of Croal and was struck by Croal.
Huston’s motorcycle overturned and ejected Huston and his passenger, Melissa Huston, 38, of Girard, reports state.
Neale and Melissa Huston were both transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital by Howland Township EMS with critical injuries.
Croal was not injured. Two of Croal’s four passengers received minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
The Howland Township Fire Department and Howland Township Police Department assisted at the crash scene.
This is the second motorcyle accident in a week in Trumbull County as a man and woman on a motorcycle were both killed in a traffic accident on Interstate 80 in Girard on Tuesday.
OSP reported 71-year-old Donald Snyder was driving a Honda Goldwing Tricycle around noon Tuesday when he swerved to avoid debris along the westbound lane of Interstate 80 in Girard.
The vehicle overturned, throwing Snyder and his 55-year-old passenger Christina Borton from the bike. An oncoming semi-tractor trailer then struck both victims and the vehicle.
Borton was pronounced dead at the scene. Snyder was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
