2 sent to hospital after Howland crash

HOWLAND -- Two people were in serious condition Saturday night after an SUV collided with a motorcycle at the intersection of East Market Street and state Route 82.

The SUV was traveling west on Route 82 and the motorcycle was crossing eastbound on East Market Street around 9:30 p.m., according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The driver and passenger of the motorcycle, a man and a woman, were ejected. Both were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, and their conditions were described as critical as of Saturday night.

The driver of the SUV and passengers, some of whom were juveniles, were not hurt.

Fuel was spilled from both vehicles and East Market Street eastbound was closed for several hours while crews worked to remove debris.

It is not yet known who had the right of way. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
