Three indicted after December drug raids in Niles

WARREN — Three people arrested in separate Niles drug raids in December were among 28 people indicted Wednesday by a Trumbull County grand jury.

Lamar L. Sims Jr., who turns 43 today, of Meadowbrook Avenue SE, Warren, was indicted on charges of possession of a fentanyl-related compound, trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound and four counts of aggravated drug trafficking.

The Niles Police Street Crimes Unit and Trumbull Action Group Law Enforcement Task Force officers executed search warrants at three homes in Niles simultaneously on Dec. 13. One of them was at 215 S. Cedar Ave., where Niles police Chief Jay Holland said officers made undercover purchases of heroin and meth. He also said ammunition, more than 1 gram of fentanyl, digital scales, nearly 30 grams of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found.

At the time, Sims was arrested only on a probation violation, but the additional charges were filed once lab results came back. Court records show he has been arrested previously on charges of aggravated robbery, felonious assault and burglary.

Also indicted Wednesday as a result of the Cedar Avenue raid was Cheryl Biddle, 55, 215 S. Cedar Ave. She was indicted on single count of aggravated drug possession.

Laurie L. Pizzulo, 47, 1677 Timber Court, Niles, was indicted on two counts of aggravated drug trafficking and one count of aggravated drug possession stemming from a second raid at the duplex where she lived, where Holland said members of the Niles street crimes unit made undercover purchases of methamphetamine.

The drug buys were made after neighbors tipped off police about suspicious activity at the home, including traffic coming and going late at night, Holland said. He said officers found suspected meth, drug paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments inside.

Also indicted Wednesday was Jon W. Blosser, 42, of Bayberry Drive in Howland, who police said had stolen items at his house that were found during a Sept. 18 raid. Several weeks after his arrest, Howland police posted photos of the stolen items — including car keys, watches, digital cameras, cellphones and several purses — on social media hoping victims of breakins would claim them.

Blosser was indicted on one count of receiving stolen property. During the Sept. 18 search of his home, police also found syringes, a crack pipe, suspected heroin, and suspected marijuana, according to a police report.

Blosser was arrested outside the Robins Theatre in Warren following the search of his house. He has numerous previous charges, including some for receiving stolen property, failure to comply and drug offenses, according to court records.
