JACKSON TOWNSHIP -- A 54-year-old Canfield resident was killed after his 2013 Nissan Juke went off the road and struck a tree on Interstate 76 near Bailey Road just before 9 p.m. on New Year's Eve.
Kevin Chizmar was driving east on I-76 when the vehicle went off the right side of the road, struck a tree and caught fire, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol report.
Chizmar, who was not wearing his safety belt, was thrown from the vehicle.
He was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, where he died.
A lane of the interstate was shut down while the fire was extinguished.
