Warren man arrested on gun charges

WARREN — A 29-year-old Fifth Street man was arrested during a traffic stop for carrying a concealed weapon and being a felon with a weapon.

William Brown, 14405 Fifth St., Apt. 3, was stopped at 11:11 p.m. Friday at the corner of Tod Avenue and Palmyra Road. He was a passenger of a car that left a business known by police for drug activities. The Chevrolet Avalanche was pulled over by city police because it did not have illumination on its rear license plate.

When officers approached the vehicle, they could smell what they believe was marijuana coming from inside. It was noticed the driver, later identified as Justin D. Glover, 29, 1605 Robbins Ave., Apt. 48, did not place the vehicle in park and had his foot on the brake, according to the police report.

He was ordered to place the vehicle in park and get out of it, according to the report.

Brown was observed kicking an unknown item under the front passenger seat.

During a vehicle search, police found under the passenger seat a loaded silver revolver with black tape on the handle.

Both men denied any knowledge of the weapon.

A criminal background check on Brown indicated he has had previous convictions for domestic violence and carrying concealed weapons, as well as an ongoing case for drug trafficking. He was arrested. Unidentified drugs were found in the vehicle, police said.

Glover was cited for making an improper turn and not having illumination for his rear license plate.
