United Way kicks off campaign

NILES — The United Way of Trumbull County will kick off its 2019 campaign at 7:45 a.m. Friday at the old Sears store at the Eastwood Mall in Niles.

Ginny Pasha, president / CEO of United Way of Trumbull County, Dr. Lance Grahn, a board member of United Way, and Jean Williams, executive director of Niles Community Services, will speak at the breakfast folllowed by the United Way at Work Day.

A 2019 Chevy Equinox donated by Greenwood Chevrolet, as an incentive for donors to the 2019 campaign, will be on display. Pasha said this year, a new project will be introduced: Volunteers will package 20,000 meals that will then be distributed to pantries in Trumbull County. The food packaging also will take place at the Sears location.

She said the tradition of outdoor projects will continue with United Way volunteers providing outdoor yard services for a limited number of properties belonging to seniors, veterans and disabled individuals in Trumbull County. An additional project will take place at Someplace Safe where volunteers will paint the interior of their new location.

Volunteers from 27 businesses will participate.
