WHAT: Board of Education meeting Wednesday

PRESENT: Joseph Cappuzzello, Thomas Hannon, Wendy Higgins, Jody Klase and John Saganich

The board:

• Approved a consultant agreement with Megan Titus at $230 per day with no benefits, effective June 11 to July 31, on an as-needed basis before she becomes the district’s new school treasurer Aug. 1;

• Entered into an agreement with Terreri and Sons for masonry work at high school at $58,800;

• Entered into an agreement with Suntrol Glass Enhancing Film of Cleveland for application of security film at both schools for $8,871. The district has added security cameras to both buildings;

• Heard from Saganich the board is reviewing a policy on what fees to charge or not to charge to nonprofit and for-profit groups wanting to use school facilities;

• Heard from Evelyn Hannon of the McDonald Historical Society that artwork of students will be shown this week at the community room during the festival showcasing places, such as the former Roosevelt School and McDonald steel mill, as part of the village’s 100th anniversary;

• Hired Chris Rupe as varsity boys assistant track coach at $2,118 to replace Kyles Joynes, who resigned;

• Approved three-year agreement with Gardiner of Solon for heating, ventilation, air conditioning maintenance agreement for $5,374 annually;

• Purchased high school math books for $15,363 from Follet School Solutions.
