WHAT: City council meeting Monday
PRESENT: Deidre Petrosky, Kevin Piros, James Edwards, Kathy Fleischer, Patti Keller, Don Moore, Scott Rowley and Mayor James Woofter
Council:
• Purchased a John Deere mower from John Deere Co. for $8,964;
• Heard from fire Chief David Rea, who is seeking donations from local organizations and groups to help raise money to buy a $19,000 power-lift cot to help firefighters get patients into ambulances. The Cortland Lions Club donated $750. Rea said some additional money is available from the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation funds;
• Will act on joining the Trumbull County Council of Governments on April 16. The fee is $200 for the first year;
• Discussed Alexander Pest Control providing up to 10 mosquito sprayings in the city May to September at cost not to exceed $7,600. Council will act on the matter at the April 16 meeting;
• Announced curbside brush chipping will be the week of April 23. Brush needs to be placed at the curb by the fourth Monday of each month;
• Announced the scrap tire collection is 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays Monday to May 4 at the city service garage at Willow Park. There is a limit of eight tires per vehicle with no truck tires;
• Announced the spring cleanup is April 26 and 27.
