WARREN -- A man who was brought back from Detroit to face murder charges and other felonies connected to a December 2016 shooting death on Stephens Avenue NW had his trial moved from next Monday to Feb. 26. The attorney for Shawn L. Hope, 51, said he needed to set a later trial date because of the "voluminous amount" of evidence.
Hope showed displeasure with public defender David Rouzzo as they appeared for pre-trial Tuesday before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Andrew D. Logan.
Hope, also known as Shawn Johnson, faces two counts of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, two counts of kidnapping, possessing weapons as a convicted felon and tampering with evidence. Five of the charges carry firearms specifications, which each carry mandatory three-year prison sentences.
Hope, who was at large for four months, is accused in the Dec. 2, 2016, slaying of John Paul Keller, 41, at 2313 Stephens Ave. NW. Hope remains in custody in Trumbull County Jail in lieu of posting a $3 million bond.
