WARREN -- The shooting death of a teen early Monday morning in a southeast side neighborhood was the second deadly incident in nearly as many days in the city.
At least two residents on Burton Street SE called 911 after hearing gunshots and tires squealing outside their home, and then seeing a bleeding man on the ground outside 2770 Burton St. SE. The man, Tyler Mitchell, 18, died on the street, said police Capt. Rob Massucci.
Meanwhile, the man police believe is responsible for a fatal stabbing that happened just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday at 438 N. Park Ave. made his first appearance Monday in Warren Municipal Court.
Arteum Brodeur, 24, is accused of stabbing to death Michael J. Krevas, 31, 503 Harmon Ave. NW, Warren.
Brodeur, 504 N. Park Ave., who pleaded not guilty to a charge of murder, is being held in the Trumbull County Jail on $500,000 bond. He is due back in court on July 17, according to court records.
Krevas was found lying in the parking lot of 438 N. Park Ave. bleeding from his chest. He was transported to Trumbull Memorial Hospital, where he died, according to police.
Police continue to investigate Mitchell's death.
It was after hearing gunshots that Camilla Gonzalez, 26, looked outside her Burton Street SE home early Monday to see Mitchell lying face down on her front lawn
"He was screaming for help," she said. "For a moment, as I walked over toward him, it seemed like he stopped breathing. He then asked for help."
Gonzalez said the man, who she said she had seen on the street, but didn't know, was shot several times.
Samuel L. Wilson, a neighbor, said he was playing solitaire when he heard what he thought was two to three firecrackers.
"I didn't think anything about it because we've just had the Fourth of July holiday," he said. "A few moments later, I heard voices. When I looked out the window there were police cars."
