After nearly four months on the run, murder suspect Shawn Johnson was arrested by U.S. Marshals Thursday in Detroit.
Johnson, 50, was wanted by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, who considered him armed and dangerous. He was placed on the U.S. Marshal Service's list of "Dangerous Dozen" fugitives.
Johnson was arrested on a warrant charging him with murder in the Dec. 2, 2016, shooting death of John Paul Kellar, 41. Kellar was shot to death at 2313 Stephens Ave. NW, where Johnson also was living at the time, police said.
After Kellar's shooting, police said Johnson kidnapped Alicia Marie Binion, 36, and Tabitha Powell in a stolen van, although Powell managed to escape when Johnson stopped at Rocky's AM PM Market on West Market Street, police reports state. Binion was found safe about a week later, police said.
Warren police Capt. Robert Massucci said it is unknown when Johnson will be extradited to Trumbull County to face charges.
