Meeting to address oil, gas projects

Will take place Thursday at TCTC

CHAMPION — A briefing on oil and gas exploration and related pipeline construction activities is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Trumbull Career and Technical Center.

The program, open to the public, will be facilitated by Dale Arnold, Ohio Farm Bureau Federation director for energy, utility and local government issues. Alan D. Wenger, an oil and gas attorney with Harrington, Hope, & Mitchell LTD, will also participate.

“Over the next several years Ohioans could see larger, horizontal drilling projects well outside the Marcellus and Utica shale development areas. New interstate, intrastate, collection and utility pipeline projects will impact communities throughout Ohio, too.” Arnold said.

During the briefing, Arnold will discuss drilling and related production activities in Trumbull County, energy market trends, remediation standards, as well as regulatory agencies governing different types of energy development. Issues concerning eminent domain and farmland preservation will be explored, as well as what landowners should consider as they finalize lease and easement agreements.

Wenger will discuss lease legalities and regulations.

The event is sponsored by the Trumbull County Farm Bureau and Tod Latell, Trumbull County recorder, in cooperation with the Trumbull County Ohio State University Extension and Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District.
