YOUNGSTOWN – A Masury man has been identified as the person found dead in a burning vehicle Friday by Youngstown police.
Police identified Anthony Bianco, 51, 1314 Stevenson Road, who was found in a car near the intersection of Seifert and Knapp avenues on the city’s East Side. An investigation revealed Bianco had been shot.
A person driving by the vehicle Friday noticed someone who appeared to be passed out in a car, according to a report from Tribune Chronicle news partner WKBN 27. When the woman returned an hour later, she told police the car was on fire.
Wendy Parker, investigator for the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office, said the body was transferred to Cuyahoga County for an autopsy. A report has not been completed.
Parker said a preliminary investigation showed Bianco to be shot and that police are investigating the case as a homicide. Parker did not say how many times Bianco was shot or if the gunshot wound caused his death.
Trumbull County Jail records show Bianco was booked into the jail at 1:27 p.m. Thursday and released about 90 minutes later. Bianco was arraigned Thursday by Eastern District Court Judge Robert M. Platt Jr. on a felony theft charge connected to a June 1 incident in Kinsman.
It’s unknown if the Kinsman case had any ties to the Youngstown fire. Neither police in Youngstown nor Kinsman could be reached for comment.
