LIBERTY – Liberty police are investigating a double homicide in which two people – a Liberty man and a Youngstown woman – were found shot to death inside a Liberty apartment late Thursday night.
Jesse Cooper, 62, 3021 Frederick St., Liberty, and Gloria Khoury, 39, 1617 Logan Ave., Youngstown, were found dead inside Cooper’s apartment at 11:55 p.m. Thursday. An autopsy was performed on Khoury Friday afternoon by Trumbull County Coroner Humphrey D. Germaniuk, who ruled her death an open homicide. An autopsy has not yet been completed on Cooper.
Officers were called to the Frederick Street apartment Thursday after residents reported hearing gunshots. Upon their arrival only minutes later, officers found Cooper and Khoury inside, “apparently dead,” with gunshot wounds, according to Liberty police Chief Richard Tisone.
Cooper and Khoury were transported to St. Joseph Warren Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Tisone said multiple leads as to the identity of the shooter or shooters are being investigated by BCI, the Trumbull County Homicide Task force and the detective bureau, although there is no known motive at this time.
