NILES — Mired in a two-week slump to start the second half of the season, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers can thank the West Virginia Black Bears and WV catcher Noah Jouras, in particular, for breaking the skid. State grants awarded to upgrade 2 intersections

The Ohio Department of Transportation awarded two grants to Trumbull County for a roundabout in Braceville and reduced collision U-turn lanes at a Southington intersection. The project in Braceville is getting a $5.61 million grant while the Southington one will receive $2.54 million. The Braceville project, to be done in 2032, would create a roundabout at the intersection of state Routes 5 and 534.
