Trumbull Regional, Hillside to begin closure process in September

By STAFF REPORT 1 min read

WARREN -- Trumbull Regional Hospital and Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital are expected to begin an "orderly closure process" Sept. 19, according to a spokesperson with Steward Health Care, which filed bankruptcy May 6.

Two days later the company said it planned to sell off the more than 30 hospitals it operates nationwide.

In July, the company canceled auctions for Trumbull Regional, Hillside and Sharon Regional, saying it had not received qualified bids. Earlier this month, Steward Health indefinitely postponed sale hearings on the three facilities, however, the company did not provide a reason.

According to the statement today, “We remain hopeful we can find an alternative solution that would keep the hospitals open and preserve the jobs of our dedicated team members. We want to help save these hospitals and will continue to work with qualified bidders during this process.”
