The Girard Board of Education at an emergency meeting Friday morning accepted the resignation of Mark Bello as school district treasurer.
A recent state audit showed Bello was being paid more than $460,000 in one fiscal year based on a contract approved by the board last year. Board members said Bello submitted a letter of resignation Friday morning prior to the meeting.
An audit showed that Bello got a pay bump of almost $326,000 for the fiscal year 2023 as part of a retire / rehire agreement.
The Board also appointed Stacy Foster of the Trumbull County Educational Service Center as the interim treasurer.
