WARREN -- City police are investigating a Wednesday night shooting on the city's northwest side that sent one person to the hospital.

A Warren police department news release states officers responded to the 2300 block of Stephens Avenue just after 9 p.m. for a reported shooting.

Arriving officers found the area to be "littered" with shell casings. Police said children were playing in the front yard in the direct line of fire during the incident.

One victim, whose identity was not disclosed, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the release.

The victim has since refused to cooperate with the investigation "despite the risk placed on the community and neighborhood filled with young children," police said.

Warren police are asking anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact them at (330)-841-2684.
