WARREN -- A former Warren police officer who is accused of rape will now face additional charges, according to a superseding indictment released Thursday.
The court document amends the original indictment against Michael Edwards Jr. and lists three additional charges attached to two new female victims identified by their initials.
Edwards Jr. was already facing 16 counts. Those charges include gross sexual imposition, extortion, rape, sexual battery, theft in office and dereliction of duty.
The amended charges add another charge of fourth-degree gross sexual imposition; fourth-degree charge of menacing by stalking and fifth-degree attempted gross sexual imposition.
Each charge has a firearm specification attached.
