WARREN -- A murder suspect in a case that left four children motherless was arraigned Monday morning in Warren Municipal Court.
Noel Flores Jr., 19, of Warren, entered a not guilty plea during his video arraignment in Judge Thomas P. Gysegem's courtroom, after being extradited from Pinellas County, Florida.
Gysegem informed Flores that, as punishment for his crime, he could receive 15 years to life in prison and up to a $15,000 fine.
"The court, noting the police reports that have been filed in this matter, and noting that Mr. Flores is on probation in this case, and in this court, has probable cause to issue a probation detainer on the case," Gysegem said Monday.
The preliminary hearing for the case will be set within 10 days, with no bond.
Flores is suspected of shooting and killing Ashante Fisher-Kirksey at her Francis Avenue home Nov. 11. A news release from the Warren Police Department stated Fisher-Kirksey, 26, was found shot to death when officers responded to a call about gunshots.
Flores appeared before a Pinellas County judge, who found probable cause to issue an out-of-state warrant arrest. Local investigators had Flores extradited to Ohio to face murder charges last week.
The Warren Police Department on Thursday used social media to thank assisting law enforcement agencies and the community after a nearly month long investigation led to the arrest.
Flores was apprehended in Florida after he was tracked to a St. Petersburg apartment and found with a 9 mm firearm, which is the same caliber weapon used in Kirksey's death. The firearm was seized by authorities, according to the marshal's task force.
Neighbors of Fisher-Kirksey said that while she had just moved into the neighborhood, she and her children had "fit right in" with them.
