WARREN - A municipal judge denied bond Friday for a man involved in an hours-long standoff with police on Wednesday, in which he’s also accused of biting the officer trying to apprehend him.
Appearing via video before Judge Terry Ivanchak, Wayne Perry, 31, of Forest Street, pleaded not guilty to two counts of felonious assault and misdemeanor domestic violence, and single counts of felony failure to comply, obstructing official business, and a misdemeanor count of failure to comply.
A preliminary hearing will take place for Perry Thursday in the same courtroom.
The updated charges are a result of the Wednesday afternoon three-hour stand-off at home at the corner of the intersection of Forest Street and Vine Avenue NE.
A day prior to the stand-off a warrant for Perry’s arrest was issued by the court after Perry was accused of breaking into the home of his ex-girlfriend in Howland Township.
Police were called to the Elizabeth Avenue SE residence in Howland on Monday, where the ex-girlfriend of Perry reported that she woke up to him having burglarized the home.
Perry has had a lengthy history of run-ins with Trumbull County law enforcement with violent domestic and assault offenses dating to 2015, when he was sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to felonious assault with firearm specifications.
Last week, Howland police responded to that same home for a domestic call from the ex-girlfriend. She told police he allegedly “punched and kicked” her multiple times in her ribs and back of the head. She alleges he also threw various items at her and threatened to kill her. By the time police had arrived Perry had already fled on his motorcycle, a report states.
