WARREN — A security guard on Thursday evening placed Trumbull Regional Medical Center on lockdown after the relative of a patient in the intensive care unit made threats to shoot a nurse, a relative and a nursing home, according to a police report.
Jason A. Reed, 32, of Maryland Street NW, Warren, is charged in Warren Municipal Court with aggravated menacing, inducing a panic and domestic violence. On Friday, the charge of domestic violence was dismissed, according to court records.
Reed pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charges and was given a $1,500 bond. He is scheduled to appear Oct. 5 for a hearing. Judge Thomas P. Gysegem issued no-contact orders, barring Reed from communicating with the nursing home, the hospital and his sister, according to court records.
Reed was booked Thursday evening into the Trumbull County jail.
The police report states a man called the hospital just after 9 p.m. to inquire about the condition of his mother and a nurse told him she could not release the information to him, and that he should contact his mother’s power of attorney.
The man reacted by stating he would shoot the nurse, the power of attorney — his sister — and shoot at Gillette Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, the nurse told Warren police.
When the nurse told the security guard, he placed the hospital on lockdown and called Warren police.
Then, the man arrived at the hospital and was “belligerent” to the staff, and again threatened to shoot the nursing home, with an AK-47.
The man did not have any weapons on him and was detained.
