AUSTINTOWN – One of five victims involved in a Sunday afternoon crash between a minivan and a semi tractor-trailer remains in critical condition, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol in Canfield.
The crash happened on Interstate 80 between the Ohio Turnpike and Interstate 680.
Berta Herrera-Rosales, 29, of Philadelphia, was ejected from the car and remains in critical condition at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. Other passengers identified today as Miguel Herrera-Rosales, 35, and Edwin Caceres, 23, both from Philadelphia, are also hospitalized in stable condition.
Two children, ages 1 and 7, were also passengers of the minivan and are in stable condition at Akron Children’s Hospital in Akron.
According to the patrol, the mother and 1-year-old were ejected from the van. The impact caused the van to travel off the road and roll several times.
The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.
