Mask mandate expected for Trumbull County today

WARREN – Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine is expected today to mandate face masks in public for all counties designated as “red” on his new novel coronavirus alert system. The mandate would include Trumbull County, which last week was designated as “red.”

The announcement could come during the governor’s regular COVID-19 briefing at 2 p.m. today.

Trumbull County Commissioner Dan Polivka said he was notified earlier today by the County Commissioners Association of Ohio of the governor’s impending announcement.

DeWine last week rolled out the new visual public health advisory system that visually tracks where the novel coronavirus is spreading most rapidly. The county-by-county Ohio map uses seven health data points to indicate where the spread is least serious, colored yellow, and where it’s most serious, colored purple. Orange is the second-to-lowest tier; red is the third-highest tier.
