Wed. 1:45 p.m.: Warren events coordinator fired, accused of stealing
WARREN – The city safety service director fired the events coordinator, claiming she stole money from the Christmas on the Square event held annually in downtown Warren.
Kisha Jackson’s attorney denies that any money is missing and said the city did not follow procedures for firing Jackson from the manager’s union.
A letter Tuesday from Director Eddie Colbert to Jackson states, “Based on my investigation, I have determined that you are guilty of the theft of Christmas on the Square funds while performing your duties as administrative assistant (events coordinator) for the City of Warren.”
Colbert did not elaborate on the accusation and said he cannot comment further because of an ongoing investigation.
It is not clear how much money allegedly is missing.
As of 1 p.m. today, no police report has been filed.
Messages were left today with Enzo Cantalamessa, the city’s law director who first hired Jackson in 2012 when he was safety service director, and police Chief Eric Merkel.
Jackson was paid $22.48 an hour.
