ONE-HOUR TOUR: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will offer a cemetery walk at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Niles Union Cemetery, highlighting the stories of several people from Niles.
Participants should meet at the cemetery chapel near the Niles Cortland Road entrance.
The one-hour tour is free. Those attending should wear comfortable shoes and clothing. In case of inclement weather, the event will be canceled.
WALKING TOUR: The McKinley Memorial Library will offer a guided walking tour titled "Rooted in History: Stories of the McKinley Memorial Trees" from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. today. An arborist from Davey Tree and a library host will guide participants through the grounds of the McKinley Memorial Birthplace Museum. The free event asks participants to wear comfortable shoes and clothes. In case of inclement weather, the event will be canceled.
PRESIDENT TALK: The National McKinley Birthplace Memorial Museum will host author Bill Clevelan, who wrote "Presidential Road Trips: 100 Places to Explore and Experience the History of American Presidents." Clevelan was in Niles a year ago to conduct research for his book. The event will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the museum, 40 N. Main St., Niles, hosted by the museum and co-hosted by the library.
PACKING DAY: Southington Christian Church, 3285 State Route 534, will have an Operation Christmas Child packing party and potluck lunch at 12:15 p.m. Sunday. Participants will help pack 120 shoeboxes as part of Samaritan's Purse project, which distributes gift-filled shoeboxes to children in need throughout the world. The event is open to the community.
