BAZETTA COMMUNITY DAY: The Bazetta Township Community Fun Family Day will be 1 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the township park, 2025 Wilson Sharpsville Road. There will be food and craft vendors, basket raffle fundraiser and car, Jeep and bike shows. Proceeds from the event benefit the Bazetta Township Park. For information, call 330-637-8816. SILLY SCIENCE: No other festival in the region allows event goers to walk across 400 pounds of oobleck, bake in a solar oven, catch balls tossed by robots, meet local scientists and ride in a robotic recliner.
OH WOW!'s Silly Science Sunday is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 13. The free festival is hosted at Wean Park in the Huntington Alley Way and features more than 35 STEAM education exhibitors. New to the festival this year are Raptor Hallow Sanctuary, United Protective Technologies and ProQuality Demo.
There is no entry fee or registration needed to attend. Free parking is available at the Covelli Centre during the event, and food trucks will be on-site the whole day.

OH WOW!'s facility will be closed during the festival and remain closed for annual maintenance through Sept. 30. OH WOW! reopens on Oct. 1.
ASSOCIATION TO MEET: The Northwest Neighborhood Association monthly meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Grace Methodist Church, Drexel Avenue. Kevin Stringer with Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership is the guest speaker. Socks for the Warren Family Mission are being collected, and the church pantry is always in need of nonperishable food items.
RUMMAGE SALE: Journey Christian Church, 2878 Warren Meadville Road, Cortland, will host a rummage sale 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
DANCE CLUB ANNIVERSARY: The Friendly Squares will celebrate its 16th anniversary at its monthly square dance from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Niles SCOPE Center.
Dress is casual, and there is a $7 per person charge at the door. Gene Hammond will be the caller for the evening.
A new year of weekly square dance lessons will begin 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Each lesson builds upon the previous session and will include learning new steps along with plenty of review and practice each week. The Tuesday evening sessions will run weekly through April at the Niles SCOPE Center. There is a fee of $6 per person per lesson.

DONATIONS NEEDED: First Step Recovery, 2727 Youngstown Road SE, Warren, is in need of clothing donations. Being sought are men's and women's clothing; gently worn shoes, sneakers, boots and slippers; hoodies; and jackets. Men and women are also in need of work clothing. Items can be dropped off anytime at the location.
MOSS HOUSE: The Moss Ancestral Home, 1476 and 1499 Burnett St., Mineral Ridge, will have an open house and celebration of Mary Lou Goldeski's birthday from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Godleski is responsible for saving the Moss Ancestral Home from demolition. The event will include polka music. The Mineral Ridge Historical Society located across the street from the Moss House will be open for people to see displays and exhibits.
GALA AT KINSMAN HOUSE: The 14th annual Gala at the Kinsman House, 303 Mahoning Ave., Warren, will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Kinsman House grounds. The Warren Heritage Center and GFWC Ohio Warren Junior Women's League will present the event. The event includes wine tasting, hors d'oeuvres, basket raffle and entertainment. CAMPFIRE POTLUCK: A campfire potluck will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Mosquito Lake Nature Center Complex, 3620 Hoagland Blackstub Road, Bazetta. Campers, park visitors and members of the community are invited to attend. Take a camp chair and food to enjoy or cook over the fire -- hot dogs, s'mores, hobo pies, popcorn, campfire treats, or a favorite fireside creation. Feel free to bring something to share, or simply bring enough for yourself and your family. This isn't a cooking competition or a formal dinner. It's simply a chance to slow down, gather around the fire.
GRANDPARENTS WEEKEND: Sweet Memories Vintage Tees & Candy, Trumbull Avenue, Girard, will host Grandparents Weekend from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday when the retailer will launch its new limited-edition Goetze's Caramel Creams fall T-shirt, with proceeds benefiting Akron Children's Hospital.
The launch will feature free limited-edition Golden Age T-shirts for grandparents, giveaways, Pumpkin Caramel Creams samples, vintage candy activities, NeeDoh, local authors, caricatures, candle making and plenty of opportunities for grandparents and grandchildren to make new memories together.
From 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, guests can participate in a special candle-making session. Youngstown author and historian Tom Welsh will be at Sweet Memories from 1 to 4 p.m., creating caricatures and visiting with guests. From 1 to 3 p.m., Nicholas D'Alesio, author of "The Little Ravioli," will join the celebration for a special book signing. Guests can meet D'Alesio, purchase signed copies of "The Little Ravioli" and shop his crocheted raviolis.
