VIENNA HOME DAY: The annual Vienna Home Day will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the township bicentennial gazebo, 4275 Warren Sharon Road at the township green. The event will include a morning parade, food vendors, games, craft tents, local community organizations and displays, foam cannon party and musical entertainment.
BACK TO SCHOOL: A Back to School celebration will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the township center with school supplies for children. There will be school supplies for children, games, music and a dunk tank.
FIRE DEPARTMENT CELEBRATION: The Kinsman Volunteer Fire Department will mark 100 years with a community celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the fire department, 8450 Ridge Road. The event will include a bounce house, dunk tank with the fire chief, food vendors, historical fire department document display, truck display, rescue helicopter land and fire department water battles.
ABILITY WALK AND ROLL: The fifth annual Ability Walk & Roll will be att 3 p.m. Saturday at 717 Credit Union Field at Eastwood. The event celebrates those with developmental disabilities and to unite all in promoting respect and inclusion. The Ability Walk & Roll is open to everyone, regardless of status with their county Board of DD. Participants of all abilities are invited. The event includes a resource expo, meet-and-greet with princesses and superheroes and activities. There will be a special walk and roll around the stadium at 5 p.m., a ballpark dinner and tickets to that night's Scrappers game.
CENTER OFFERS CARE FOR CHILDREN: The Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, of Youngstown is offering all-day care for students in grades kindergarten through five weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 10 to Sept. 4 and Sept. 25.
Children will enjoy science experiments, swimming, recreational activities, and more. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided, but students must bring a packed lunch.
The cost is $40 per day. Visit jccyoungstown.org/jcare to register and see a full calendar of 2026/2027 dates. Drop-in care is not available; students must be registered in advance. J All Day is open to all surrounding school districts for students in grades kindergarten through fifth. It provides a full day of fun for students when schools are closed.
MOSS HOUSE: The Moss Ancestral House and Mineral Ridge Historical Society located at 1499 Burnett St. in Mineral Ridge will have its monthly open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.. Mary Lou Godleski has been contributing to the restoration of the house since 1990 after learning that her grandfather lived in the house from 1859-99. The house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2023. Godleski was awarded the Historic Preservation Award in 2028 from the Mahoning Valley Historical Society.
