NILES ALUMNI BANQUET: The Niles McKinley Alumni Association will host the 28th annual Hall of Fame recognition dinner at 5 p.m. Aug. 30 at Ciminero's Banquet Centre in Niles. This year's Hall of Fame honorees are Dominic Baragona (posthumous), Joseph Kijowski and Mark Pallante. Reservations for the event are needed by Aug. 17.
Cost is $35 per person. Reservations can be made by sending a check to Nancy Jayne, 317 Cedar St., Niles, OH 44446.
Paid reservations will be listed at the door the night of the dinner. Past inductees or family members are recognized at the dinner. The football game where the inductees will be recognized is Aug. 28.
Candidates for the Hall of Fame must have graduated at least 10 years ago, achieved success in their career and have made significant contributions in their field, as well as to their community. Nomination forms will be available at the dinner.

BUTTERFLY PROGRAM: The Bristol Public Library, 1855 state Route 88, invites the community to learn about monarch butterflies and other pollinators at two educational programs presented by Rayna Lambert, a local Girl Scout Gold Award winner. The program is at 2 p.m. Wednesday for children in kindergarten to sixth grade, where Lambert will read her self-written and illustrated picture book "Mission: Monarch." Children will enjoy a make-and-take craft and receive a packet of milkweed seeds.
At 5 p.m., Lambert will present "Monarchs on the Move," an education program for ages 14 and older. The program will discuss the vital role monarch butterflies and other pollinators play in the ecosystem and everyday lives. Registration is required at 330-889-3651.
MEDITERRANEAN POTLUCK: The Girard Multi-Generational Center on Trumbull Avenue will have a "Tour of the Mediterranean" potluck luncheon noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday . Those who are attending are asked to bring a Mediterranean inspired dish including Italian, Spanish or French.
MESSAGE IN BATH BOMB: Girard Free Library, 105 E. Prospect St., will offer adults a class "Message in a Bath Bomb" at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Participants can write a favorite poem, affirmation, quote or scripture and put it in a bottle buried in a bath bomb to discover during a relaxing self-care session at home. Materials will be provided and registration is required by calling 330-545-2508.
RECRUITMENT DAY: The Trumbull County Board of Elections is joining the U.S. Election Assistance Commission in recognizing Tuesday as National Poll Worker Recruitment Day. With the midterm elections about three months away, Trumbull County Board of Elections is seeking eligible Trumbull County residents to assist with in-person voting. The public can sign up to be poll workers. Duties include setting up polling places and greeting people For information, contact the board at 330-369-4050.
