Community dance set for Thursday

GROTTO DANCE: The Ali Baba Grotto, 760 Perkins Jones Road, Bazetta (across from the Amazon warehouse), hosts a dance 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. every Thursday featuring the band Midnight Express, which plays country, oldies and some rock & roll. There also is a cake walk and a 50/50 raffle. All ages are welcome. Admission is $10 and refreshments are available.

SANTA POKER RUN: The 20th annual Santa Run poker run will be Saturday at The Local Tap and Grill. 2242 Greenville Road, Mecca. All vehicles are welcome and registration is from 9 a.m. to noon at $15 per vehicle. The first 100 registered will receive a free patch. There will be a vehicle blessing at 10:30 a.m., with vehicles leaving immediately after. The last vehicle will return at 5 p.m. The event will include a holiday-themed buffet at 4 p.m., a basket raffle, prizes and biker games. Proceeds from the event benefit Santa's Hide-A-Way Hollow, which provides comfort, peace and memories for families facing difficult challenges. JOHNSTON COMMUNITY DAY: Johnston Community Day will be noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the park behind the township fire department. There will be a car show, vendors, music, children activities and a school supply giveaway.

MISSION COOKOUT: The Warren Family Mission, 155 Tod Ave. NW, Warren, is hosting a Grill, Chill & Connect community cookout 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. The free event will feature a cookout, games and prizes, a bounce house, petting zoo, dunk tank, free haircuts, treats for the kids and more. Mission representatives also will connect individuals and families with community resources, including addiction treatment, mental health counseling, employment assistance, recovery housing and re-entry services through On Demand Counseling and New Day Recovery. Food will be served noon to 2 p.m.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL BASH: Shepherds House Ministries will host a backpack and school supply giveaway at 10 a.m. Saturday until supplies last at the National McKinley Birthplace Memorial grounds in Niles. There also will be games, crafts and refreshments. In case of inclement weather, the program will take place inside the library.

PICKLEBALL TOURNAMENT: Moosally Medical will host a community pickleball tournament at Packard Park in Warren Saturday and Sunday. The event will feature men's and women's doubles on Saturday and mixed doubles on Sunday. The tournament is open to players of all levels and aims to bring the local community together through health, wellness and friendly competition.

Registration includes swag bags, food and drinks. Prizes will be awarded to first-place winners. Raffle tickets also will be available, with proceeds benefiting Packard Park.

PIANO CONCERT: The National McKinley Birthplace Memorial Museum, 40 N. Main St., Niles, will host a piano concert at 4 p.m. Aug. 14 with the theme "From Ragtime to Striding Rhythm Music, Society and Spiritual Expressions from 1899-1929: A Look Into the Past of Historical Music." Evan Lewis, who has interned at the museum for the past two summers, will lead the event. The event is free, but registration is required at 330-652-4273.

ANTIQUE TRACTOR SHOW: The 30th annual Antique Tractor Club of Trumbull County tractor show and car show will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday to Sunday at the club grounds, 1653 Ridge Road, Vienna. There will be a flea market, craft vendors, an antique museum, children's play area, children's barrel train rides and tractor pulls. RESOURCE FAIR: A Resource Fair and Fun Day will be 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the Trumbull Metropolitan Housing Authority, 4076 Youngstown Road SE, Warren. The event is for families and will include face painting, balloon artists and the Kona Ice Truck. There will be various local organizations offering resources.
