Backpack Bash set in Fowler

FOWLER EVENT: The 2026 Backpack Bash, a free family event for Fowler Township residents and surrounding communities, will take place noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Fowler General Store and Market, Fowler Township Green and former Neal School area. The event starts at noon with free backpacks and school supplies distributed to the first 100 children. Throughout the afternoon, families can enjoy a lineup of free entertainment and activities such as free haircuts for the first 40 kids noon to 2 p.m., free back-to-school photographs, balloon fun with Lily the Clown noon to 1 p.m., Big Raptor Dinosaur experience at 2:30 p.m., Magic Max Magic Show at 3:30 p.m. and face painting, 2 to 4 p.m.

Other activities include inflatables, jumbo yard games, carnival games, runner duck races, butterfly exhibit, antique car and tractor show, food and local vendors. Parking, vendors, food and seating will be available at the Old Neal School.

Organizers said the Backpack Bash is part of Fowler General Store and Market's continued effort to bring families together, support the local community and create new reasons to visit historic Fowler.

FOOD TRUCK NIGHT: Champion Township will have a food truck night 5 to 8 p.m. today at the township administration building, 240 Marshall Ave. There will be live music, cornhole and food trucks.

DAHLIA SOCIETY: The Mahoning Valley Dahlia Society will host the 22nd annual show Saturday and Sunday at the Boardman Park Lariccia Family Community Center, 375 Boardman-Poland Road. The event will be 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Dahlias of all colors and forms and artistic designer arrangements will be entered into the show.
