Youth-led markets set in Warren, Youngstown

INSPIRING MINDS MARKETS: This summer, over 300 students in the Mahoning Valley participated in Inspiring Minds' six-week summer enrichment program. Both the Warren and Youngstown chapters of Inspiring Minds will culminate their programs with annual youth-led summer markets on July 21 in Warren and July 25 in Youngstown.

The markets are set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at 837 Woodland St. NE, Warren, and noon to 2 p.m. July 25 at 2110 South Ave., Youngstown.

The summer markets will highlight what IM students learned about entrepreneurship by showcasing 30+ "businesses" created throughout the summer program.

Also, during the summer program, students in grades 3-12 participated in continuing education to prevent summer learning loss, art, sports, swimming, community service, college visits, industry

tours, cooking lessons, gardening and field trips.

FREE LUNCH: Central Christian Church, 2051 E. Market St,, Warren, will host a free lunch for the public 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The event is a drive-thru in the church parking lot.

VENDOR AND CRAFT SHOW: The Friends of Mosquito Lake Park will have a vendor and craft show 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the park near the beach. The event will take place rain or shine.

BLOOMFIELD FARMERS MARKET: The North Bloomfield craft show and farmers market will take place 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Bloomfield Park, 8830 Park Drive.

HISTORY DISCOVERY TRAIL: The Brookfield Historical Society will have a History Discovery Trail at 1 p.m. Saturday. The hunt begins and ends at Scoops Ice Cream Shop on the green at Brookfield Center. Registration is $2 per person, with teams consisting of two to five people. A map will be provided for the different stops on the trail, which include the Brookfield Cemetery mausoleum, Arthur Holt Flour Mill and Brass in Wine Coal Mine.

BEACH PAWTY BINGO: The Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County will host Beach Pawty Bingo at 6 p.m. Saturday at the league, 812 Youngstown Kingsville Road in Vienna. Doors open at 5 p.m. There will be bingo with cash prizes, basket raffles and a 50-50 raffle. There will be a beach theme -- participants can bring their own food and beverages. Tickets are $30. Proceeds benefit the shelter animals.

ICE CREAM DAY: The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will have an Ice Cream Day 4 p.m. Sunday with free admission from noon to 4 p.m. to the Tyler History Center in Youngstown. There will be family-friendly activities, including making ice cream.
