CELEBRATING AMERICA 250 WILDLIFE SHOW: Mosquito Lake State Park in Bazetta will host The Great America Wildlife Celebration to honor America's 250th with a wildlife show at 6 p..m. today at the park amphitheater near the campgrounds entrance.
Various wild birds will be featured and a bald eagle will fly over the audience, courtesy of Raptor Hallow Sanctuary in Alliance. Bring a lawn chair as seating may fill up fast. Following the program, there will be cake and ice cream (while supplies last) as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday together and get a special sneak peek at the upcoming Mosquito Lake Nature Center Complex, scheduled to open later this summer. The event is open to the public.
LAST RIDE: The Girard Free Library will host a program on "The Last Ride" at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The program includes a discussion of wooden roller coasters across Northeast Ohio and explores the rise and fall of some of the region's amusement parks, including Idora Park, Euclid Beach Park and Geauga Lake. RECYCLING PROGRAM: The Bristol Public Library, 1955 Greenville Road,. Bristolville, will have Jennifer Jones, director of the Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District, at 5 p.m. Monday for a program on recycling.
IMMUNIZATION CLINIC: The Warren City Health Department, 258 E. Market St., will provide a children's immunization clinic 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. today. No appointment is needed. Parents should bring updated shot records.
WELLNESS ON WHEELS: The Warren City Health District's Wellness on Wheels will be onsite 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul's Thrift Store, 540 Main Ave. SW, Warren.
MEZUZAH TO BE PLACED: The Jewish Community Relations Council of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation will hang a mezuzah at the entrance of the Schwartz Judaic and Holocaust Resource Center at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the center, 505 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown. A mezuzah is a handwritten scroll, called a klaf, containing the Shema prayer, which is placed inside a decorative case and affixed to a doorpost in the home or other building. The case protects the scroll from outside elements. Rabbi Seth Sternstein of Temple El Emeth will recite the blessing. Children in the Early Learning Center of the JCC will participate.
TEACHER SUPPLIES: The Educational Service Center of Eastern Ohio will host its third annual Teacher Flea 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at 7320 N. Palmyra Road, Canfield.
This one-day-only event invites educators to shop gently used and budget-friendly classroom materials, supplies, decor, books, manipulatives and more sold by fellow teachers who are cleaning out their classrooms and closets ahead of the school year.
