Seeing Eye: Paddling trip planned on the Mahoning River

MAHONING RIVER PADDLING TRIP: A Mahoning River Paddling Trip will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Niles Riverside Park, East First St., Niles. The public can explore the Mahoning River with Buckeye Water to Trail Adventures for a guided paddle from Niles Riverside Park to Marshall Street in Girard.

The 4.5 miles river trip allows people to enjoy the outdoors and learn about local waterways and experience the Mahoning River from a new perspective. A shuttle will be provided. All equipment is available, but people can bring their own kayaks. To reserve a spot call 330-631-4317.

BLOOMFIELD FOOD TRUCK NIGHT: The North Bloomfield Food Truck Night and 50-50 raffle 4 to 8 p.m. today at Bloomfield Park, 8830 Park Dr. There will be different food vendors.

PIONEER LIFE WALKING TOUR: A Pioneer Life Walking Tour will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at Courthouse Square, 151 High St., Warren. Cost is $10. Discover Warren’s early days as we trace the paths of Trumbull County’s first pioneers. The tour begins at the bandstand at Courthouse Square. Tickets are $10 per person.

ARCHERY PROGRAM: The archery and BB gun first shot program will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Mosquito Park archery range parking lot, 3620 Hoagland Blackstub Road, Bazetta.

There will be archery and BB gun shooting and instruction, Children must be accompanied by an adult.

FOWLER AMERICA 250 PICNIC: The Fowler Township America 250 Home Day picnic will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Fowler Center, 3364 Youngstown-Kingsville Road. The day’s events, which are sponsored by the Fowler Historical Society and Fowler Township, are to celebrate America’s 250th. There will be a picnic lunch, games, contests and programs.

OPEN HOUSE: The Moss Ancestral Home, 1499 Burnett St., Weathersfield, will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday and on the second Sunday of each month through November,

The Mineral Ridge Historical Society, which is located across the street from the Moss Ancestral Home, will be open during the same time. The Moss Home was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2023.

FREE LAWN CONCERT: The Guiding Light Presbyterian Church, 890 Churchill Road, will hold a free lawn concert at 2 p.m. Sunday with Rudy and the Professionals. There will be a basket raffle and free refreshments. Those attending can bring a lawn chair.

HUBBARD FARMERS MARKET: The Hubbard Farmers Market will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Roosevelt Student Wellness Center, 110 Orchard Ave., Hubbard

FRIENDLY SQUARES’ The Friendly Squares monthly dance will be from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Niles SCOPE Senior Center. Jim Davis will be the caller for the evening. The dress is casual. There is a $7 donation per person.
